As you turn into our driveway, you are welcomed by this rusty gate and old cast iron wash pot.
Yes, this old cast iron pot is actually what our parents washed their clothes in. Filled with rain or well water; homemade lye soap and
a good hot fire underneath to boil the clothes. No built-in agitator
... just an old wooded broom stick to "stir the clothes". If you were lucky,
you might have a special made stick to stir with. I am lucky to have these two vintage ones and a bar of lye soap. Forked one is made to lift the clothes out.

I am so excited to be a part of this and I hope you will enjoy a little bit of
Frugal Fall Decorating in our house.
We have been downsizing this year, so this means that we will be downsizing our Fall decorating too.
In the entry hall is this antique bench that I saved from one of those "crusher trucks" that pick up bulk trash.
My vintage chalk cats love the cozy quilt in this old green basket.
The boards in the back sections were bad so I padded and upholstered them
There is also room in the hall for this large Welsh hutch which holds crocks and part of my ironstone collection.
This is an true 1800's barn lantern.
Dining room ... first door on the right.
I am building the centerpiece with this huge "Farmer's Market" cutting board I made from an old wooden ironing board.
Bleached leaves and Dollar Tree $ burlap pumpkins that I painted white and teal ... left one natural.
... scattered a little candy corn ... added a Mason jar of white candles and a gourd dipper full of miniature stone fruit.
The set of
covered French onion soup bowls with handles and crock casserole in a
stand was a 1950's wedding gift ... had never been used when I bought
them at a garage sale in the late 80's (including the original box). I
have never used them but I guess I threw the box away.
Makes a colorful table.

Love this old wooden dough bowl with rawhide laced edge.
This is an Antique Linen Press cabinet ... Yes, I have my table linens in there. I would show you, but it is a mess after I was digging for linens to set this table.

The fireplace mantel in the living room is the first thing I like to decorate. Most everything is thrifted.
I
have loved looking for vintage oak splint baskets this year.
I have found a few and made them a part of my decorations.
I find the height of this fireplace is a bit of a challenge.
The
old yellow painted jug; the palm leaf pumpkin and the brass weather vane deer seems to always
be a favorite for Fall decorating. The jug with branches helps to add height to the mantel.
The colorful collection of pear in the antique, time-worn wooden dough bowl is one of my favorite things.

twigs from the yard. The squirrel family always make an appearance in
the Fall. The large iron acorn is likely a weight from a scale. Weighs
about five pounds. The splint basket with a nice arrangement of
sunflowers was a $5.00 thrift store find this year.

Down the hall and a quick peek in the master bedroom ...
a corner wall of antique mirrors with a vintage rain lamp over this black walnut desk (night table) decorated with antlers and green carboy wine jugs. Always in style regardless of the season.
Main Bath
There is a white chamber pot on bottom self.
Green enamel Baby bath tub
and chamber pot.
Nestled in rolled towels is pumpkin I made from a milkglass lamp shade.
Mercury glass pumpkin, baby breath in a tarnished silver bowl
and my little cement (yard art) girl hugging her rabbit.
Time for a break ....
Texas-size acorns ...
from our Chinkapin Oak. This will make the native deer happy.
