Spring Mantel.Rustic Barn.Bluebonnets Nests and Birds

This Spring'tacular Link Party Parade has really kept me "hopping" to try to get posts ready ... and not even getting to the 'bunnies' yet.

and other parties posted at the end of this blog.

Spring reminds me of beautiful flowers and birds just starting to build their nests so I have built my mantel decorations around that.

My favorite painting to display for Spring is this wonderful old Farm house with a large field of bluebonnets.

Our Texas bluebonnets should be up and showy this year thanks to the wonderful rains we have been having.

This year I painted the frame to give it a barn wood look instead of the bright gold. Like it much better, but would still love to have real barn wood. The smaller painting is unframed but very beautiful just leaning.

The old tree looks like it has been twisted by the wind.

This is a concrete egg that I made this year. You can see the tutorial HERE. Yes, it is big and heavy.  The "nest" is loose pulled burlap strings.

More birds and nests. This one is 'signing' a pretty song on her nest of shredded sheet music.

This little cement bird has built her nest in this junk yard funnel string holder seen  HERE.

The rusty tin bird on the back of the chair
is a Mexican arts & craft piece.
Love this old naturally aged pot.

This is one of my favorite bird cages.

Just got to have white Tulips for Spring

  3. Oh, my goodness, what a beautiful mantel. It is just lovely. I am so crazy about that egg and the burlap nest. I have not one crafty bone in my entire body so could never do something like this.
I love your bluebonnets. We don't have many out here on the plains of West Texas...and we are still in a deep drought so the ones here aren't as pretty as the ones you have in your part of the country. We are on water rationing and can only water our lawns and gardens once a week with sprinklers. We CAN hand water more so I am sure I will be doing more container gardening this year. We almost lost our shrubs and lawn last summer. Hope it isn't as hot here this year.
Back to your lovely spring post...it is just beautiful.

  4. Your mantel looks fabulous. I really like the way you put that bird in the urn. And the color of the urn. Did you paint that? I LOVE those paintings. They are so beautiful. The barnwood paint effect on the frame looks authentic to me. Bluebonnets are starting to bloom around here. So excited!
Thanks for letting us admire you beautiful Spring mantel at Show & Tell.
