Texas gully-washer rain breaking the drought

We finally got a good-'ole, Texas gully-washer.

This picture says it all ... Welcome to the wonderful rain. We got a real, for sure, Texas gully-washer today ... so thankful.

We have had a total of about six inches or more this week. I hope this breaks the drought.
This is beautiful rain water gushing out of the gutter, flowing down my little tin bucket rain chain gutter... seen here.

Sorry, no plants out yet.

Our water collection tanks are full and ready for the hot summer days when there is no rain.

Our yard, at times, looked like a lake.

My little red wagon collected his share today too.

Clean, cool rain water. Mom used to collect it to wash our hair and it made our hair so silky and soft. Nothing like good rain water.

The trumpet vine was so full of blooms yesterday and I should have taken pictures, but was more beautiful today after the rain and the sun peeked out for just a little while.

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Have  a great week-end.

Blessings,
Audrey Z.

  3. I lived with only a two year drought and it was terrible. It took my well down and a farmer told me it would take five years to recover. He was dead right. We've had little snow this year and not enough spring rain and I'm afraid I'll be taking 2" baths again. I'm so glad you had your gusher! Hope you get a couple more! ~ Maureen

It has rained LIGHTLY here, off and on, all day long. We are so thankful, we are wanting to just get out in it.
    Thanks for these great photos.

  7. That's fantastic! We received some rain last night, but today it decided to make the weatherman a liar. It's sunny as could be outside. I'm hoping the rain will return with some gusto. After last summer's drought, I'll never again take rain for granted. I'll take the rain over sunshine any day of the week. I love it!

  8. Glad the drought has broken. We've been in a drought here too, but got 4 inches of rain last Sat night. I had 4 inches in my basement the next morning. So I have spent the week trying to clean up.
    Love your rain pictures.

  9. I love what you have done! I have to admit...I have always been facinated with water, so all of the rain gathering on the ground is just so pretty. Love the little red wagon that had it's share...I wish I had never gotten rid of our children's wagon now! Everything looks so relaxing to me...LOVE IT ALL!
