Hi Revi ... sorry I am late for the PARTY
The old gray tan horse ain't what she used to be.
Well ... no time to get one together ... but I did go to her sale and this is what I bought.
She had it priced at $25.oo
(me) Whoa ... Nellie ... are you sure?
(seller) I just want to get rid of it ...
(me) Here is $35.00 ... are you sure you are happy with that ?
She was very happy !!!
So here he is decked out for Christmas with greenery and snowballs.
(Our office has poor lighting ... sorry).
Debating .... should I add small leather ears and real horsehair for the mane and tail?
Blessings,

Don't add a thing! He is perfectly distressed. Can't believe your neighbor let him go for that price. I have missed Revi's party too.
ReplyDeleteWow, I was looking at the ones at Hobby Lobby - over $100. Not as nice as yours either. Great buy! And I think he's fine the way he is!
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a cool find (as always.) LOVE her just as she is - or is it a she? Nellie? You could make some old leather ears and see about finding some horsehair for a tail that you could attach sort of like a toupee...not permanent...just to see how you like it. You always amaze, Audrey! KUDOS on this fab find. Thanks for sharing it at Revisionary Life Thrifty Life Thursday. :)

such a fabulous old horse, audrey! i think adding ears, mane and tail would look wonderful. i cannot understand why she didn't want to keep it--great find!
ReplyDeleteMy husband made an oak rocking horse for me, and used stiff leather for ears. Looks great. I love your horse on the mantle. Not sure I'd add a mane and tail, but it might look good.
