Repurposing architectural salvage.Welcome Sign

Floors are not swept and sinks are full of dirty dishes, but I gotta go to the shop and try to be creative.

Have you ever had times when your mind is so full of creative ideas; you just can't work fast enough?

Well, I tell you, Blogland is so full of creative ideas ... you can get so inspired that it is overwhelming.
Our Subdivision will be having Garage Sales at the end of the month and each year, I try to recycle some of my junk/treasures in creative ways to make my sale more interesting. This year I got carried away, so I have a few/actually more than a few, to share with you.

I hung a recycled old Welcome envelope with a barb wire handle to fill with a nice plant and old rusty jail keys hanging on the hooks. To hide the hangers at the top. I leaned a clock face and perched a little bird on the other side.

I love architectural salvage and get a lot of pleasure in re-purposing items.
Several years ago, I bought a big five-gallon bucket full of salvage tongue and groove 4" planks/boards. Knowing I needed to start getting rid of stuff, I took a look at these boards; the huge collection of door hardware and hooks and decided to see I could come up with.

First, we made a very simple weathered white shelf with three vintage hooks ... then a WELCOME sign out of the beautiful blue boards that I uncovered ... can be seen at Welcome Sign Rusty Wire Wreath

Pretty nice ... so we made the one above using some of the same type architectural salvage.

Old door hinges that are attached so they work  ...  porcelain knob to hang something on and funky hooks on the bottom for hanging keys or something. I hand painted WELCOME and No. 7 (don't ask me why ... just looked right) ...

The next board became this ....

a narrow shelf for my some of my small clocks as seen Clock Shelf

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I love to do.

Blessings,
Audrey Z.
