50¢ Cloche Terrarium Display. What Fun !!!

How much fun can you have with 50¢ ???

Well, let me tell you, I really like this vintage porch light fixture that cost me FIFTY-Cents.

I will show you the fun ways I can put it to use.

Also, it was the quickest and easiest repurpose that I have ever made.

I unscrewed four nuts and removed the brass electrical part.
That was it ... easy peasy.

This left a void there, but because it is a great opening to have to place objects inside for a vignette or air for a plant, I will leave it like that for the time being. I just cleaned some paint of the brass and am just enjoying the aged look with the beveled glass.

(you can click on pictures for a larger view)

I can display a beautiful figurine and show off some vintage jewelry.

Use as a terrarium for a small plant.

Display favorite figurines

I placed two white vintage frames, a white grapevine wreath and a few birds in the background.
I used a vintage wooden riser that I stained with watered-down green paint and added the pretty hummingbird and flower stencil.
This time, I got it right the first time.

Little birds seem to be thinking ... "perfect place to build a nest".

I am ready for Spring ... so thinking an Easter vignette would look great.

What neat cheap thing have you found recently and been able to quickly put it to use?

Blessings.
Audrey Z.

  2. What a cool repurpose! See? You didn't see the vision for old cigar boxes and I never would have seen the vision you had for this... a cloche! Genius! :) Thanks for the comment on my altered cigar boxes!

  11. Audrey, that was such a clever and creative use of that light fixture. I had a similar one and kept trying to think of something to do with it but I finally got rid of it not being able to come up with a good idea. Wish I had thought of this! Thank you very much for sharing at my party. I'm sure you have given others inspiration to think outside the box. Have a great day, Audrey! Hope to see you next week.---------- Shannon

  14. Love all of the ways you used your new light fixture cloche. My latest cheap thing was a $3 picture that took me no time at all to fill in the scratches on the frame and hang on the wall.

I'm thinking I need to plan a trip up there and go thrifting with you.
